As I'm certain everyone has figured out, I'm trying to let everyone
know where we are but am finding it difficult to do a full dispatch
at the same time. I promise to try to post more detail later, but we
arrived in La Paz last night. I believe that one of our Amigos lives
here. If you would like to see us, we are at Hotel Camino Real - by
far, the nicest hotel we have stayed in on our entire trip. We will
be here until tomorrow. We're leaving for a little tour of La Paz in
a few minutes so not much time for writing.
We are in a pretty big hurry now as my daughter, Jenn, will be meeting
us in Cuzco on the 7th (arriving at 7 am!) so we won't have much sightseeing
time between here and there. (Maybe Jenn will write dispatches!) We
are thinking that perhaps after she arrives we will loop back to Lago
Titicaca and spend a little more time there.
We are feeling a little tired of the road now. It seems that we are
either driving or dealing with vehicle problems, mostly minor but time-consuming,
all the time. Just washing the unbelievable mud off of both vans takes
a couple of hours. In addition, yesterday, when we stopped in Cochabamba
(a city we liked very much) to eat lunch before leaving, Tyler's van
was broken into in broad daylight and all of his cameras and film from
Ushuaia were stolen. Needless to say, we're a little bowed, but unbroken.
