frequently-asked questions

To facilitate border crossings, you want to construct approximately 20 'paperwork packets'. These should be stashed in several places within your bus, so that if some are stolen, you may still have some remaining.

It's a good idea to construct an official-looking folder for each packet. One traveller reported good results with translucent plastic mailing envelopes with a string-and-button closure, but anything impressive (and fancy-looking) will get better attention.

Each paperwork packet should include one copy of each of the following documents (color copies preferable):

    • the first two pages of your passport
(the critical information should be shown, including your photo and passport number)
    • Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever
    • A copy of your license plate
    • your driver's license
    • international driver's license
    • auto registration
    • auto title
    • a manifest of everything in your bus
